My Methodogy and Recording Process

 

u I look for sounds in my environment and capture them with a field recorder. I will edit these sounds in Audacity, to remove any clicks or shorten the sounds to grab the best bits. This also is a good environment to add effects such as EQ etc.

u Cecilia, will be used on the edited sounds to add numerous effects which remove the sound from its source in an acousmatic manner, with this software I was also able to create beats out of the sampled sounds.

u I will then go on to sequence the sounds in Logic Pro, and create sound objects and maybe play around with more effects.

u Another technique I like to use is to make a sampling instrument with one of my sounds in Logic and then trigger that using my Arturia Keystep sequencer keyboard hardware to create a synthesizer like track.

Introduction

  What struggles and positive aspects of living with a Neurodevelopmental condition bring to researching in the field of electronic music? To shed some light on this, I have been undertaking various reading and listening of electronic musical material and most of my work has been composing electronic music, I am going to contextualize my music into the body of works. I have decided to combine my research with two Neurodiverse conditions I live with. I have extended my reading and research to include this field. Neurodiverse people tend to be drawn towards the creative arts and I felt this would be a good research question to pursue. I have found that some traits of Autistic Spectrum Disorder and Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder can hinder me not only in daily life but with my research.
